Cabo de la Huerta Trail

Bordering the bay of Alicante to the northeast, between the beaches of Albufereta and San Juan, Cabo de la Huerta receives its name from the disappeared vegetable garden of Alicante. This territory is irrigated in large part by the water of the Monnegre river. After the construction of the Tibi reservoir at the end of the 16th century, this river allowed the extension of watering based on a system of irrigation ditches to nearby areas such as La Condomina. However, during ancient times this cape was known as l'Alcodre, from the Arabic al-kodra (the green), an etymology that would give way to the current name.
