Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia Church place_of_worship

This is the headquarters of the Hermandad del Grand Poder y la Esperanza brotherhood, from which it performs its penitential procession on the evening of Holy Wednesday during Holy Week in Alicante. It was originally built as part of the Casa de la Misericordia (House of Mercy) to care for the poor. It was an auxiliary church of the co-cathedral of San Nicolás and finally a parish church. The current church is new, dating from 1952, as the other one was completely damaged during the Civil War. In 1989 important works were carried out when the canonical headquarters of the Hermandad del Gran Poder y la Experanza were installed in the baptistery of the church. 🗺 How to get there?
